University of Michigan Grant Award
We are excited to announce a grant has been awarded to Matthew Diemer, PhD, who is a Professor in the Combined Program in Education & Psychology at the University of Michigan.
His MRI supported research will compliment an ongoing study in rural Africa Mozambique.
The larger NIH project aims to achieve elimination of mother-to-child HIV transmission and improve the health of HIV-infected couples, and find innovative strategies to engage HIV-infected male partners in maternal antenatal care. The project tests a randomized clinical trial (RCT) of male partner engagement and support in Mozambican couples where the female partner is pregnant and at high risk for HIV, or is already HIV-infected. MRI support will advance the capacity of the study to more precisely model how broader interventions impact relational processes (e.g., empathy, partner support) that account for reductions in mother-to-child transmission of HIV, mortality, and other important outcomes.
