Presenters:
Gena Minnix, LPC, is the Clinical Director of Youth Contact, a non-profit community mental health agency in Hillsboro, Oregon offering strategic family therapy. She receives mentorship from Judy Harris, LCSW, and supervision from Cloé Madanes, director of The Madanes Institute in La Jolla, CA.
Eileen Bobrow, M.A., is the director of MRI’s Strategic Family Therapy and Training Center and a Senior Research Fellow of the Mental Research Institute. She has been both a Faculty Member of the Family Therapy Institute of Washington, D.C. and an Associate Professor of the Gestalt Institute of San Francisco.
About this Workshop:
This three-day intensive workshop will be presented in Spanish, and will provide participants with advanced techniques in Strategic Family Therapy to solve difficult cases, including demonstrations and case examples.
Goals and Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
1) Design strategies to treat presenting problems such as eating disorders, addiction, violence, abuse, and psychosis from a strategic family therapy perspective
2) Identify interactional patterns in families that maintain stubborn problems
3) Organize families to interrupt dangerous behaviors
4) Practice effective techniques for motivating resistant clients to change
5) Deliver strategic interventions to resolve complex family problems
